At its last board meeting, the bicycle industry association Velosuisse accepted "Thömus" as its 38th member and is delighted to have company founder Thomas "Thömu" Binggeli, a politically well-connected Bernese, in its ranks. Binggeli was co-founder of Veloforum Schweiz Suisse Svizzera and recently made a name for himself with the announcement that he will take over 12 of 14 Bike World branches of retail giant Migros on March 1, 2025.

It was a unanimous decision by the Velosuisse board to accept the Bernese bicycle manufacturer "Thömus" into the bicycle industry association. Velosuisse is thus gaining a busy entrepreneur who is extremely well connected in the federal government and who has recently made a name for himself with several business start-ups and company takeovers. For example, Thomas Binggeli is promoting resource-saving mobility with his involvement in the "PubliBike" bike rental system. After pioneering the promotion of e-bikes45 with the launch of the "Stromer" brand in 2009, he launched another project close to his heart, the Twinner, in 2023.

He is co-initiator of the transport policy exchange "Veloforum Schweiz Suisse Svizzera", which took place for the first time in Oberried on September 12, 2024 with Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider. Binggeli is also the initiator of the "Swiss Bike Park" in Oberried - a social project for young and old, for popular and elite sport. The 30,000 square meter bike park with pump tracks, jump lines, trails and drops was the venue for the first UCI Pump Track World Championships in 2019. The park is open to all visitors free of charge. The busy entrepreneur's latest coup is the takeover of twelve of the 14 "Bike World" branches of retail giant Migros on March 1, 2025.

Binggeli also promotes racing at various levels. With "Thömus maxon Swiss Mountain Bike Racing", the Bernese entrepreneur sponsors one of the most successful cross-country teams with the overall World Cup winners Alessandra Keller and Matthias Flückiger, the latter also an Olympic silver medal winner in Tokyo.
